Getting Started 1. Controlled Disk Space: After you order your SecureLook® server you will receive a User ID and Password and can begin uploading files. No one else has access but you and you may install and run whatever applications you chose. We suggest you only install and run those files that you want to be secure otherwise you will unnecessarily use disk space. Most of you will only place your order forms or the check-out interface of your ecommerce solutions such as a shopping cart. 2. Digital Seal: After your business is certified by SecureLook® you will be able to place the SecureLook® Digital Seal on your homepage. SecureLook® provides a real time digital seal to validate your web site as a legitimate, online commercial entity that uses the 5 critical elements of secure online transactions. Visitors to your web site will be able to "click" on the seal and receive real-time authentication from SecureLook®'s online database of registered merchants who have gone through the due diligence process. The seal will open another browser and the visitor will not leave your web site but will still be able to view your credentials. In order to be secure, your customers must be confident that a trusted 3rd party like SecureLook® has conducted a vigorous due diligence exercise. We take the information from your application and verify it using a trained and professional staff. We do not sell or provide your information to anyone else. No other certifying authority provides the level of verification that SecureLook® does. 3. Web Server Certificate: After visitors browse your web site, click on your Digital Seal, they go to your SecureLook® order form and/or shopping cart that you uploaded onto your server and select items to purchase. When they "click" submit all the information they type in and send is securely transmitted because of the SSL channel encryption. Your web server certificate is yourdomain.securelook.com. Most browsers recognize this protocol. There are some clients with known bugs that will receive a notice through the browser commenting on domain name matching but the certificate will still authenticate your site as SSL enabled and secure. Please click here for more information about this bug. 4. SSL Channel Encryption: SecureLook® uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to encrypt the channel between your customers who input their private information and your SecureLook® web server where site is hosted. SecureLook® uses the most advanced and secure 128-bit encryption technology developed. It supports 1024-bit key lengths and 128-bit SSL connections for 128-bit SSL compatible web servers and 128-bit SSL web browsers. In order to be secure, the channel between the consumer and your web site must be encrypted. SecureLook® uses robust server architecture and dedicated acceleration hardware to make the transaction speedy so your customers do not have to wait while their transaction is processed. 5. PGP Data Encryption: SecureLook® gives you the option of Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) to encrypt the data itself and our support staff can assist you with installing it. You do not require this to get started but your transactions will not be fully secure unless you do so and we suggest you implement it quickly. PGP uses a public / private key system to encrypt the data from your SecureLook® web site back to your client when you download customer information via email from the order. Only you will be able to read the data so even if it were compromised while in transit back to your client no one else would be able to read it. You cannot have end-to-end security without both SSL and PGP. Most solutions only use SSL which encrypts the channel. In order to be secure, the data itself must also be encrypted. Otherwise it is exposed when you, the merchant, download or read it from the web server. ![]() |
